The importance of study habits for students is one thing that I would have wished somebody had drilled into me at a young age. When I was in my first year in college I believed that there was such strategy as cramming last minute. Spoiler: it wasn’t. It was a bitter realization that grades, confidence and even my stress level were all attributable to the way I studied. I later found out that, by good study habits, I would not only improve in my academic work, but also other areas such as in managing time and practicing self discipline.

The thing is that, as you come to school or university, nobody gives you a manual on how to study. Majority of us learn by trial and error. I had a notion that intelligence was predetermined, however, it later came to my attention that the only difference between students who are at the top and those who are not doing well in school does not lie in their IQ, but in their studying habits.

I have previously mentioned the errors made on the first year in college by students. The majority of those errors are linked to the bad study habits and can be attributed to one of three things procrastination, failure to plan or a simple failure to know how to receive the information.

I will make it straight forward; good studying habits = better grades. My grades went up by a great margin when I began to schedule exam time to study specifically rather than binge-studying overnight before the exams.

It directly influences your GPA, scholarships, even future degrees and internship opportunities because of the quality of your habits.   • Forest app to keep off my phone.
And at times even a simple notebook proved to be better than any fancy app. It is not the tool, but rather the habit.

  • Would have to use motivation (discipline is more sure).
  • Replicating other people in their ways rather than discovering what suits them.
  • Studying the night before the exams (greatest myth of all).
  • Lose health- forget habit no power works when you are sleep-deprived.
